Giboshi
Also known as Giboushin. It produces very small sized fruits. A pollination variant non astringent (PVNA) type. Fruit shape is conical, with a roundish cross section. Best time to harvest is when fruits have dark-orange skin color. Properly ripened fruits, the flesh is brown in color when pollinated and the fruit flesh color is orange without pollination (parthenocarpic). Sugar content of the fruit is medium. It has sub-triangular seeds that are medium sized. Its fruits ripen very early in the season. Fruits when properly ripened are eaten as snacks, candied or preserved. An intermediately vigorous tree. Cultivar is of uncertain origin. The female flowers are medium sized. Frost resistance is high. It bears female flowers only. This variety is mainly used for fruit production. Fruit production has medium reliability. Giboshi is intermediate bloomer compared to others. It has good grafting compatibility on Diospyrus lotus rootstock.
