Hirota Kaki
It produces small to medium sized fruits. A pollination variant non astringent (PVNA) type. Fruit shape is flat, with a roundish cross section. Best time to harvest is when fruits have orange-red skin color. When ripe, flesh is red-orange in color when pollinated. Sugar content of the fruit is medium. It has sub-ovate seeds that are medium sized. The fruits after cold storage have poor to fair taste quality. Tree ripened fruits have poor to fair to good taste. This plant is mainly used for fruit production. It bears female and male flowers. It has medium parthenocarpic fruit sets. Fruits when properly ripened are eaten as snacks, candied or preserved. Fruit production has medium reliability. An intermediately vigorous tree. Cultivar is of Japanese origin. It has very good grafting compatibility on Diospyrus lotus rootstock.
